Our dear friend and long time member, Charles Humphreys has passed away after a short battle with cancer. It will be difficult to attend a meet at not see his smiling face waiting for us. He was usually the first one there. I had many phone conversations with him. He was always positive and never a had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. He will be greatly missed.
Because of Charlie as our guide, we had many interesting tours in the Ridgecrest area. From Mt. Whitney to Death Valley and beyond, he made them an adventure.
He taught Russian and Latin for 54 years . He is survived by his sister , our member Kay(Gerry) Williams. A celebration of his life was held on July 28 in Ridgecrest. Many of his students attended and lots of friends and family.
He was an avid car collector and owned a beautiful Nash Ambassador and a Nash Healy among other automobiles.
